The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur has achieved 100% placement for its flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (2016-18) with a student bagging the highest domestic package of Rs 19 lakh per annum while the average CTC stood at Rs 12.05 LPA and median CTC at Rs 12 LPA.
IIM-N’s achievement is all the more praiseworthy as this was just the second batch to complete the program since its inception in 2015 under the mentorship of IIM Ahmedabad.
The 40 plus recruiters, including several first-timers, came up with 55 offers for the 54 member batch. One student chose to take up entrepreneurship.
The top 10% drew Rs 17.44 LPA, the top quartile Rs 16.08 LPA and top 50% average Rs 14.2 LPA. The median of top quartile, thus reported, increased by 14% as compared to the last year and offers in IT sector increased by 28%.
The season saw participation from sectors like fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), analytics, Information Technology (IT) consulting, banking-financial services-insurance (BFSI), logistics and others.
The class had 47 male and 7 female students. The average age was 26 years and average work experience 31 months.
Prominent among the recruiters were VLCC, Yes Bank, ICICI Lombard, J K Technosoft, TechAspect, Fractal Analytics, Larsen and Toubro, Value Labs, Bajaj Allianz, SBI Funds, IndiaMart, Infosys BPM, DTDC and 4Tigo. The students were offered PPOs by ICICI Lombard in multiple domains.
More than 70% of the students were recruited in IT and IT-enabled services, followed by BFSI, FMCG, and analytics firms. Marketing, consulting, and analytics were the most sought-after roles, closely followed by finance and operations.
“We, at IIM-Nagpur, are very happy that this year our corporate connect has improved over that of last year in many ways, including the number of senior executives who interacted with our students and the number of companies that participated in our placement processes,” IIM-N Director Prof L S Murty said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Justin Fernandez, 27, from Kollam, Kerala, who bagged the highest salary package of Rs 19 lakh and associate director role in the Hyderabad-based Value Labs, is the son of a tailor.
He says his grandfather was also a tailor. With readymade garments becoming popular, there were hardly any customers for tailors and his father found it difficult to make ends meet.
However, his aunt, who was a teacher in Thiruvananthapuram, financed his school education. He did BTech. From Government Engineering college in the city with the help
of scholarships. He worked for 2 years in a software firm before joining the program at IIM-N.
The class had 47 male and 7 female students. The average age was 26 years and average work experience 31 months.
It is noteworthy that 44% of the class had 24 to 36 months work experience, 32% had more than 36 months and 17%, 6 to 24 months. Freshers constituted just 7%.
