The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has completed the Final Placement for the 2017 batch of its flagship Post Graduate Program (PGP) with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), American Express, RBL, Rivigo, Sprinklr and e-payment major MobiKwik being among major recruiters.
The Placement was conducted through a cluster-based approach that allows students to choose the sectors and functions of their choice for final placement. The placement process was completed within three clusters, the last held on February 19.
Conducted in two stages, the first is the laterals process where firms interviewed students with prior experience and offered them mid-level managerial positions. The second stage is the final placement process with firms grouped into cohorts based in the profile offered. Groups of cohorts were invited to campus across different clusters.
The third cluster comprised 7 cohorts, which included Advisory & Auditory Consulting, Banking, Financial Services & Insurance, Edutech, Internet & E commerce, Infrastructure & Core Manufacturing, Food & Dairy and Enterprise Tech.
The key recruiter in the Advisory & Auditory Consulting cohort was PwC. Among the Banking, Financial Services & Insurance recruiters, American Express, RBL, FinIQ and Fullerton were some of the recruiters who extended offers.
The Enterprise Tech cohort included firms like Rivigo, Sprinklr and MobiKwik. EXL extended the highest number of offers in this cluster, with a total of 6 offers.

Placements under Cluster 2 were conducted on February 16 saw 5 cohorts in Consumer Goods and Services, General Management, Niche Consulting, Pharmaceuticals and Technology.
The Consumer Goods and Services and Technology cohorts included regular partners like Airtel, Asian Paints, HUL, ITC, Nestlé, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser and Samsung. The General Management and Leadership cohort comprised of recruiters such as the C K Birla Group, Mahindra and Tata Administrative Services, while the Niche Consulting cohort comprised of firms like Feedback Infra and others.
The firms that participated in Cluster 1 comprised three cohorts – investment banking and markets; management consulting and private equity, venture capital and hedge funds. The recruiters included regular partners such as Accenture Strategy, A. T. Kearney, Bain & Co., Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, McKinsey & Company, Oliver Wyman and others.
IIM-A has always had an extremely rich mix of firms from diverse sectors. Consulting firms, offering management consulting roles across geographies, continued to hire in large numbers. cKinsey & Company made the highest number of offers – 15 (including pre-placement offers) in Cluster 1. Finance firms offered roles in investment banking, private equity, venture capital and capital markets across functions and geographies.
