The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year. The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-approved Institutions, University departments, constituent colleges and affiliated colleges.
AICTE is expected to announce the admission schedule for CMAT 2017 in the first week of November. The application form is to be filled and submitted online. We take a look at the eligibility norms, documents required and other particulars.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized institute or university with minimum 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of SC/ST candidates).
CMAT application process begins in November every year and closes in December. The admit card download will be in January.
Procedure for filling the application
First step is to create a user account to register online. This involves filling up the registration form with personal details– name, parents’ name, Date of birth, category, gender and religion. Those with physical disability have to fill in the details in the column provided.
Once the form is submitted, AICTE will generate Username and Password or the login credentials to be used for further login purposes.
The application form
The application form is divided into the following sections:
Personal details: your full name, address, date of birth and other details in the columns provided.
Academic details: Academic qualifications, marks, year of passing of high school, senior secondary school and graduation.
Contact details: your contact telephone number and email id. These are required to be active for at least a year after the exam is conducted.
Uploading Photos and Signature: Candidates have to upload a recent passport-size photograph with dimension 140 x 160 (60Kb) and signature with dimensions 60 x 90 (30Kb) as per the specifications of AICTE.
Paying the application form fee
The payment process has to be completed through online net banking, credit/debit cards or in cash via bank challans from any branch of the State Bank of India.
The fee for general category is Rs. 1400 in addition to the bank charges. For female and reserved category candidates it is Rs. 700 in addition to the bank charges. The mode of payment of fees is online by using Credit or Debit Cards or via Net Banking.
The other mode of payment of application fee is Cash Payment through bank challans in any branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) across the country.
Admit Card downloading
The admit card is expected to be released in first week of January 2017. . The candidates have to download the admit card, take a printout and carry it to the test centre as a proof of registration.
CMAT 2017 will tentatively be conducted mid- January. It is a 3- hour computer based online test conducted in a single session.
The test comprises Quantitative Techniques, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.
