Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has virtually inaugurated the first batch of ePGP 2017-19, a program for working executives and entrepreneurs that combines online and classroom learning.
ePGP marks IIMA’s entry into online education in association with Hughes Global Education, an online learning solutions provider as the technology partner.
The 2-year e-Mode Post-Graduate Diploma Program, aimed at working professionals and entrepreneurs with a minimum full-time work experience of 3 years, offers an added flexibility of completion in 3 years. With this program IIMA will expand its reach across India as participants in any city can pursue the program at the place of their choice, said a statement from IIM Ahmedabad.
For the next batch of ePGP starting from May 2018, IIMA will be considering CAT/GMAT scores. The fees of the program is pegged at Rs 17 lakh (excluding taxes) for the two-year period.
The program was inaugurated by Prof Ashish Nanda on August 30, a day before he laid down office as IIM Ahmedabad Director from the Hughes e-Learning Studio located at IIMA new campus.
The campus module of the ePGP 2017-19 batch is scheduled to begin on Oguratctober 2, 2017. The first batch of ePGP has 53 participants who will pursue this course from 13 cities across the country. With 79% of the first batch holding BE/B. Tech. Degree, the majority belongs to IT Services, Oil and Gas, Healthcare and Financial services sectors.
While 30% of the participants have 3-5 year work experience, 21% have 6-10 year work experience and 24.5% candidates have 11-15 year work experience. The 2017-19 ePGP batch has 51 male candidates and 2 female candidates. The candidates have been selected from a vast pool of applicants through rigorous selection criteria.

The Institute also propose to launch six other hybrid programs, three in partnership with Hughes Global Education and the remaining in a tie-up with NIIT. The programs would include business financing, business analysis and advanced general management among others.
At the launch of the program, Partho Banerjee, President & Managing Director, Hughes Communications India Ltd., had stated that the firm has set up 80 tech-enabled classrooms across 45 cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.
While there are several modes of online learning including video conference and audio conference, with the IOL platform, Hughes has tried to simulate classrooms as much as possible, he added.
