IIM Amritsar has achieved 100% summer placements for its first batch of 45 students of Postgraduate Programme (PGP) 2015-17 with female marketing student Himshikha bagging the highest package of Rs 1.3 lakh from Pidilite Industries in Mumbai for a two-months internship programme.
The summer placements drive saw participation of 32 recruiters including KPMG, Pidilite, Airtel, RBI, Canara Bank, Yes Bank, Oglivy & Mather, Goibibo, DishTV, Cipla and Oyo rooms.
Niche roles were offered to the students in Digital Maketing, Operations, consulting and HR at various locations including, Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Kochi.
The class comprised of 42% with computer science/IT background, 29% ECE/Electrical and 16% Mechanical. It has gender diversity of 84% male and 16% female.
While 63% were freshers, 13% had 24 to 35 months work experience and 11% were with 12 to 23 months of work experience.
As far as sector wise breakup of work experience is concerned, IT services constituted 44%, followed by 13% each in Manufacturing and Education and others.
Marketing sector accounted for 51% of the placements followed by Finance at 22%.
While the highest stipend offered was Rs. 1.3 lakh, average stipend Rs. 32,571 and average stipend of top 50% offers was Rs. 50,272.

IIM Amritsar was the 15th Indian Institute of Management set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development with the support of Government of Punjab. It started functioning under the direction and mentorship of IIM Kozhikode, the 5th oldest IIM and one of the premier management institutes in the country.
