The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIMI) has amended criteria for admission in Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) in management for the batch of 2017-19 by restoring the 20% weightage given to the Common Admission Test (CAT) scores in the final stage of the admission process.

IIMI had stopped taking CAT scores into consideration in the final stage of admission since 2013, restricting it to the first stage only. This time, CAT 2016 sectional percentile has been set at 80 each for Quantitative Analysis (QA), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC) with overall percentile at 90 for General candidates.

For NC-OBC candidates it is 70 for each of the three sections and overall percentile at 80. For SC it is 55 for each section and 60 overall percentile. For ST and PWD (People With Disabilities) sectional percentile is 45 each with overall percentile at 50.

However, candidates should keep in mind that high percentile in CAT alone would not be enough to get a call from the IIM as the weightage is only 20% in first stage.

In Stage 2, only those candidates fulfilling the requirements mentioned in Stage 1 will be considered for this stage of shortlisting for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). Sufficient number of candidates for WAT and PI for each category (General, NC-OBC, SC, ST and DA) will be shortlisted using the merit list generated based on Composite Score (CS).

Candidates thus shortlisted for WAT and PI will be intimated in January 2017. Individual regret letters will not be sent to applicants who did not get shortlisted.

IIM Indore conducts admission interviews in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai only. Candidates shortlisted for WAT and PI at Stage-2 must have to attend both WAT and PI, otherwise they will be not be considered for the next stage of selection process i.e Stage-3.

A consistent and minimum performance in the different parameters of Personal Interview (PI) is expected from the candidates. Those not meeting the minimum performance in any of PI parameters will not be considered for the next stage.

Final Selection

In the final selection, category-wise merit list will be generated based on Final Composite Score (CS) as mentioned in Table 3 and provisional admission offers will be made accordingly, adhering to the reservation norms.

As per Government of India reservation norms, 15% and 7.5% of the total seats are reserved for scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) candidates respectively ; 27% seats for non-creamy layer – other backward classes (NC-OBC) candidates meeting IIMI’s admission requirements. For the purpose of being considered for reservations, the applicable Central Government list as on the last date of CAT registration shall be binding.

In addition, 3% seats are reserved for persons with disabilities (as per the provisions of Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995) meeting IIMI’s admission requirements. The three categories of disabilities are: (a) low-vision/blindness, b) hearing impairment, and c) locomotor disability/cerebral palsy. This provision is applicable if the candidate suffers from any of the listed disabilities to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by medical authority and as prescribed and explained in the Act.(Image Source:wikipedia.com)
