Students and faculty members of S P Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai and Waikato Management School, Hamilton, New Zealand will soon be able to avail of facilities for joint teaching and research with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU provides for exchange of faculty and students. The Executive MBA Class of Waikato Management School, a triple accredited B-School, would spend several days in India later this year, with some sessions hosted at the SPJIMR campus in Mumbai.

In November this year, students of SPJIMR’s two-year full time PGDM programme (Accredited as MBM by AMBA, UK/ MBA by AICTE) will have the opportunity to visit New Zealand.

The MoU was signed in May 2016 on behalf of SPJIMR by Prof. Prem Chandrani, Head of International Relations and by Prof. Neil Quigley, Vice Chancellor, on behalf of Waikato Management School, SPJIMR said in a press release.

“We are delighted to have Waikato Management School as our partner in New Zealand. This will offer our faculty an opportunity to collaborate with the Waikato faculty on research and joint teaching, and give our students the experience of studying in New Zealand,” Prof. Chandrani said.

It would also open new opportunities for students from New Zealand in general and from Waikato in particular to study at SPJIMR and immerse in one of the fastest growing economies of the world, he added.

Professor Deborah Willis, Acting Dean of Waikato Management School, said the agreement would help broaden the experience of both schools’ students for the wider benefit of their countries.

“Agreements like these provide excellent opportunities for our students to experience business-specific study in different countries,” she said.

“India, in particular, is a valuable region to be exploring as trade with New Zealand is continuing to expand, so it’s important for our business executives to understand each other’s motivations,” Prof. Willis added.

SPJIMR is a top ranked school of management which works with the vision to ‘create knowledge and influence practice by combining original research and thought, innovative pedagogy and proactive industry engagement.’

Waikato Management School is an internationally respected business school, noted for its influential practice, relevant research, quality teaching and commitment to excellence.
