Stanford Tops With Highest Average GMAT Score At 733 : U.S. News

The U.S. News Short List has ranked Stanford University first in notching up the highest average GMAT score of 733 among the 129 business schools that submitted the data. The University also saw its average GMAT score rising by one point from its 2014 class.

However, Stanford lost its top rank to Harvard in the Best Business Schools ranking for 2017 and ended up tied with Chicago University’s Booth School of Business in the second spot. Harvard,on its part, dropped a point from the previous in garnering an average score of 725. Incidentally, it also had the largest number of full-time students at 937.

Among all the MBA programs that provided data on GMAT scores, the average was 630, much lower than the 722 average among the top 11.

Stanford recorded incoming full time enrollment (fall 2015) of 407 while University of Pennyslvania (Wharton)in the second spot had a student strength of 856 and average GMAT score of 732. University of Chicago (Booth) was ranked third with average GMAT score of 726 and student strength of 585. Harvard University found itself on the fourth spot with an average GMAT socre of 725.

U.S. News stated that it had surveyed 470 colleges and universities and used self-reported data by the schools on their academic programs and other details.

Below are the 11 business schools with the highest average GMAT scores for incoming full-time students in fall 2015. Unranked schools, which did not meet certain criteria required by U.S. News to be numerically ranked, were not considered for this report.
