All those appearing for the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) to be held on January 8, 2017 can now download the admit card from the official website www.xatonline.net.in.
As many as 90,000 candidates are expected to appear for the all India level test to select the most appropriate students for management education. XAT score is considered for admission by more than 150 B-Schools across the country.
While the results of the test will be announced on January 31, 2017, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the cut-offs set by each participating institute.
Downloading XAT 2017 Admit Card
The test timings will be from 10:00 AM to 01:30 PM. XAT score card will be available from February 1-25.
For downloading the XAT 2017 admit card, you have to log on to the official website www.xatonline.net.in and click on the Download Admit Card link scrolling across. The next step is to enter registration number, date of birth and security text. Download the admit card displayed on the screen and take a print out.
Please carry the admit card with you to the examination failing which you would not be allowed to appear for the test.
XAT is a pen and paper mode test being held across 47 Indian cities and 2 International locations in a single shift of 3 hours 30 minutes.
Test Centres
The test centres are: Agartala, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Surat, Tiruchirapalli, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
The international test centres are in Dubai and Kathmandu.
The Question Paper
The question paper is divided into two sections. Candidates have to complete section 1 in 170 minutes (2 hours and 50 minutes) and section 2 in 40 minutes.
Section 1 has a total 78 questions dealing with Quantitative ability, English language and Logical reasoning and Decision making. Section 2 is a mix of objective as well as subjective questions to test General knowledge and writing skills in the form of an essay.

Marking Scheme
From this year, XAT marking scheme underwent some changes. A candidate could leave out 13 questions unanswered, beyond which there will be negative marking of 0.05 marks per unanswered question. Each question carries 1 mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the cut-offs set by XLRI and other participating institutes on the basis of their cut-offs. Selected candidates will be invited for a group discussion, written ability test, and personal interview rounds. The B-schools may also consider criteria like past academic records and work experience.
Based on previous year’s results, the XLRI cut-off for the two-year full time Postgraduate diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) 2017-19 is expected to be 96 percentile and for Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) 2017-19 about 94 percentile.
The other participating institutes do not announce the exact XAT cutoffs but it is expected to range from 60 to 99 percentile based on their admission criteria.
XAT is among the most popular management entrance examination including the Common Admission Test (CAT) and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). It is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI).
